What happens in Cedar City..
So much for keeping up with my blog, right? My goodness, i'm so sorry to those of you who were looking forward to hearing about our terribly boring lives. Haha just kidding.
It will be a lot easier now that i have my own laptop. WOOHOO!
Well a lot has happened since my last blog (obviously because its been a few months). We've been pretty busy around here at the Allred house!
We had a super fun summer that mostly consisted of visiting famil. From boating, travelling to Arizona for my moms side family reunion, and a lot of time spent at 7 Peaks getting sunburnt.
Now that summer is over, we are starting to get back into the groove of things. Tyler started school this past week at SUU. For those who dont know, he is studying to become a physical therapist. School is stressful and makes Tyler's life especially so so busy but we are pretty psyched by how much a college degree will benefit our family in the end.
We moved to Cedar City at the beginning of June, so we have now lived here for just over two months and we love it here. However, its definitely been hard being farther away from our parents. I was surprised at the fast that it was only two hours longer to drive to Arizona (my grandparents cabin) than it is to drive to my parents house.
I wish that we could see them more, I'm not sure they even know how much I miss them.
We live in a cute little basement apartment that is infested with potato bugs, out of all things. But I cant complain, there are worse things that could crawl into our house.
We are however moving to hopefully a town house, or just a bigger apartment come November. Its hard not being able to keep our puppy with us (the place we live in is not pet friendly), and we just really need a bigger place right now. Dez has been staying with Tracy, Kurt, and the kids for the time being and we could not be more grateful for them in taking care of our bad little puppy. Haha.
Well, Tyler is working at a boys home just like he did when we lived in Ephraim and he loves it! Ive had now two jobs since being here. My first one was at a place called Convergy's (call center) and a lot of you know that working at a call center is my last job of choice. BUT, they are the easiest jobs to get, you make super good money, and believe it or not but it is super hard to find jobs in Cedar City.
Luckily, I got a new job recently as a secretary, which many of you know is my DREAM job. I love secretarial work. Whether its organizing, labeling, filing, most people think of all these things as boring things but for some reason I can find so much satisfaction in them.
We finally have friends here, too. Chase and Sam Ritter were our super good friends when Ty was at Snow and they moved here for Chase to go to SUU, too and we are SO excited to finally have our best friends here. Tomorrow we are going to see Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat. The best part is that the tickets were free, courtesy of my boss!
Our ward here is super great, we decided to join a family ward because back in Ephraim it was really hard being part of the married student ward because everyone was constantly moving in and out and so we had a hard time making friends. But we LOVE our ward here. Especially because we got our first calling since being home from our missions. We are primary teachers for the 8-11 year olds. Its been super fun and rewarding, even though they can act up sometimes. Kids will be kids, right?
I cant really think of anything else to talk about this go round. But stay tuned, i'm sure we will have more exciting things to share about our lives soon!
