A little about the Allreds and our love story.

Hello friends and family!

I'm not the best at writing and keeping a journal, but I know it's definitely important to have a record of stories, important events and other fun things for my kids to read someday. So here I am, starting my first blog ever. Bear with me; this blog may be a little longer than all the rest to come will be.

I wanted to just share a little bit about my cute little family and share a condensed story about how we came to be. (Basically explaining the title of my blog.)

My family consists of my husband Tyler, me, and our cute 9 week old puppy; Dez. (After Dez Bryant #88 Dallas Cowboys)
Me and my husband come from two pretty different but both very blessed backgrounds. Tyler grew up in Nephi, Utah while I grew up in Corinne, Utah. I won't get too me into our full backgrounds at this time because I do want to share our story.

"Every love story is great, but ours is my favorite."

My husband and I are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and we both decided to serve our Heavenly Father by spending 2 years (him) or 18 months (me), spreading the "good news" of the gospel in the place where the Lord called us; to people in the New York, New York North Mission.
Me and Elder Allred (what I called him at the time..obviously) met in the Bronx February 6th, 2014 when I started my mission. The Bronx was my first area and of course, I was a super shy, scared new missionary. Elder Allred had been on his mission 6 months by the time we had met and he too, was also pretty shy. Our first transfer or cycle together (cycle/transfer=6 weeks) we hardly ever spoke. In fact, his companion thought that I was pretty annoying. I do however recall one night when I was feeling super homesick and I wasn't quite sure how to deal with it, Elder Allred told me about the first time that he had gotten homesick and it was nice to hear because I didn't feel alone. I remember how much that meant to me, but even then- he was just a missionary to me.
Our second cycle together, Elder Allred got a new companion who didn't think I was so annoying and we began to talk a little more and I started to consider him a really good friend of mine, but also- just a missionary.
Our third cycle came around and Elder Allred became my District Leader. Now if you e served a mission, you know that you talk to your district leader a lot more then any other missionary besides your companion and by this time, Elder Allred was becoming a lifelong friend. There were many missionaries by this time starting to become skeptical of our relationship and accusing us of having feelings for one another but both of us knew better and we honestly only thought of each other as friends, we were both so confused as to why people would think that.
We both went on to different areas and Elder Allred served mostly in the city for the rest of his 2 years while I stayed upstate for the remaining 18 months so we didn't see eachother often.
(I do need to mention that Tylers side do our story is a bit different, the way that everything happened for him)
I was in my second area, Poughkeepsie and me and my companion had gone to the Statue of Liberty, and guess who I saw? Elder Allred with his companion. It was here that I realized that maybe I had thought of Elder Allred as more then just a friend. I've not always been the type of girl to want a good boy, in fact I had such low self esteem for quite a while, I didn't think I even deserved a good boy. Tyler was everything that I had never looked for in a boy but I was so intrigued by him.
Something about him just felt right. Although, we were still missionaries and I knew that I needed to focus on the work, locking my heart and not on future relationships with boys.
However, I had no idea that Tyler felt the same and he let me know that he wanted me to go to Snow College where he would be going after the mission. I thought this was a great idea but I had no idea where I would live knowing no one in Ephraim.
I had told Tyler this and I had asked him to let me know if he knew of anyone I could room with.
Luckily, his mom and step dad, Ken managed some apartments and the next Monday, I received an email from his mother informing me that she could help me with a place to live. She also told me about all the things that Elder Allred would say about me. It was so cute! Me and his mom became so close and we would email each other every week. Eventually his sister-in-law Kenna started emailing me, then later his step mom, Tracy. I was becoming so close with his whole family it felt like.
His step mom and dad bought me a ticket to a derby that was going on two days after we both got home (yes, we came home in the same day) and I agreed to go, me and Tyler discussed our feelings for each other and decided it best for us to become officially boyfriend and girlfriend.
We fell in love only a few weeks later and eventually decided during general conference this last October that we should spend the rest of our lives and eternity together. We were engaged November 5th, 2015 and we were married in the Manti Temple January 16, 2016. We are incredibly happy, and I can't imagine my life without my sweet husband and our cute puppy.
I'm also so grateful for the gospel and for the opportunity me and Tyler had to serve our Heavenly Father in the New York North Mission. Without the call for both of us to serve, who knows where we would be today. Gods timing is perfect.

There's our story for everyone who has been wanting to know and for those who decided to read my blog.

Till next time.

  1. How special! We had no idea how you two met! Elder Allred was one of our all-time favorite missionaries when we lived in CT. We were a little nervous when he was transferred to the city, but obviously there was an important reason for him to be there! So happy that you two found each other and fell in love. He is a wonderful person! His picture stayed up on our picture board for his entire mission. Constant thoughts and prayers. We think the world of Tyler and can't wait to meet you! Please call us whenever you guys come up this way (Utah county). We'd love to have you over for dinner! :). -Heather (aka Sister Holker) 801-472-6258
